The Canadian company Bartek Ingredients, specializing in malic and fumaric acids, took advantage of the recent FiEurope event to unveil its latest exclusive technology to optimize the formulation of pectin-based gums, reports Neill Barston.

The hybrid show took place in Frankfurt and offered visitors the chance to see the company’s expanded platform which now includes its latest innovation: Pecmate Enhancer.

Founded in 1969, the company, which is headquartered in Stoney Creek, Ontario, explained that its latest offering offers a notable development in the formulation of gummy and soft candies.

It would have been beneficial for the formulation of pectin-based products by helping to overcome many production challenges, such as controlling gelation behavior and maintaining a stable pH throughout the formulation process. Pecmate means less product loss, less production downtime, and more optimal buffering than other commonly used buffer systems such as sodium citrate. This new ingredient provides gummy and soft candies with better consistency, a clean release, and candies that retain their shape.

With Pecmate, Bartek reinforces its commitment to help the confectionery and VMS brands reduce their production costs and easily capitalize on current consumer trends. With a network of global distributors and a supply chain serving more than 40 countries, the company combines high quality and service with a commitment to serving the global industry.
